The zero-click reality

More searches now end without a click. Google answers directly with AI Overviews, and assistants answer in full. That does not make SEO obsolete, but it does change the goal: it is no longer enough to rank, you have to be the answer.

What AEO actually is

Answer Engine Optimization is structuring your content so engines can extract a clean, direct answer from it. Same authority signals as SEO, different formatting and intent.

SEO vs AEO at a glance

  • SEO target: a ranking position. AEO target: the extracted answer
  • SEO unit: a page. AEO unit: a clear answer to a specific question
  • SEO format: comprehensive content. AEO format: answer first, then detail
  • Both depend on authority, relevance and trust

You do not choose one

AEO and SEO use the same foundations. The fastest path is to keep your SEO fundamentals strong and add answer-ready structure on top.

How to make a page answer-ready

Lead each section with a direct, self-contained answer in the first two to three sentences. Use clear, question-style headings. Add FAQ and schema markup. Keep facts current and easy to lift. The same page can rank in classic search and feed AI answers.

It is no longer enough to rank. You have to be the answer.
